Senator Ben Hueso Charged with DUI, Showing Once Again That DUI Arrests Can Happen to Anyone

September 10, 2014

On September 8, 2014, California State Senator Ben Hueso was formally charged with two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of alcohol. The charges stem from an arrest that occurred on August 22 when officers observed Senator Hueso driving the wrong way on 15th Street near X Street in Sacramento. The officers state that Senator Hueso showed “objective signs and symptoms” of being under the influence of alcohol and administered a field sobriety test on him.

Arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol can happen to anyone. People often ask me why I practice DUI defense. Simply put, DUI’s are one of those small subset of crimes that cut across all socioeconomic levels, from lower class people to high-profile celebrities and even senators.

We’ve all heard the stories of celebrities like Lindsay Lohan or Justin Bieber getting arrested for DUI’s. With Senator Hueso’s DUI arrest, these incidents further prove that it doesn’t matter how rich or poor, how smart or dumb or even educated a person is–DUI’s can happen to anyone.

And being that DUI arrests occur at all echelons of society, every person accused deserves due process and the best defense possible, not just the rich and famous.

I have no doubt that Senator Hueso has already hired legal counsel, as you should too if you are charged with a DUI. Contact me at The Tabo Law Firm today at (916) 504-2660 to set up a free consultation, and let us help you make sure you get your due process–fairness that you deserve just like Senator Hueso or anyone else accused of this crime.
