3 Things To Do Right After A DUI

February 28, 2015

You’ve just been arrested for a DUI. Do you know what to do next?

Here are three things you should do right after you get a DUI to protect your rights:

1. Call A DUI Attorney

Defending yourself against a DUI charge is something you do not want to do yourself. An experienced attorney will know many common defenses, such as the rising blood alcohol defense , and how to apply it to your case.

2. Request a DMV Hearing

After a DUI, the DMV will automatically suspend your license for one year. You only have 10 days to request a DMV hearing to contest the suspension.

3. Write Down Every Detail of the Arrest

Help your attorney and give him as many details as you can. To help you remember as much as possible, sit down and write down everything you can remember about what happened before, during, and after your arrest. Every detail counts, even if it may seem irrelevant to you now.

Being served with a domestic violence restraining order (DVRO) in California is a serious legal matter that can impact your reputation, family life, and civil rights. These orders, whether temporary or permanent, can restrict your access to your home, children, and even your ability to own a firearm. However, not every restraining order request is valid or justified. False accusations happen, and if you've been wrongfully accused, you have a legal right to defend yourself. This guide will walk you through how to challenge a domestic violence restraining order in California under family law procedures, based on updated best practices and current court standards.
